DHAI SEEDHI MSAJID (MEANING 2 AND 1/2 STAIRS MOSQUE)

Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid ("The mosque of 2 and a half steps"), one of the smallest mosques in Asia Asia/World (not 100% sure), is located right across the road from Taj-ul-Masajid. It is located within the campus of Gandhi Medical College, which is built on top of an old fort. Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid is in one of the watchtowers. Possibly, it is also the oldest Mosque in Bhopal city, initially built as a makeshift mosque during the construction of the fort.

Bhopal is home to the most of the spectrum of culture that is characteristic of India, and has preserved most of its inheritances from its various rulers, most significant among them being the Muslims. The splendid and opulent architecture of those times is reflected in Bhopal’s many mosques.

MOTI MASJID, BHOPAL

The Moti Masjid was an important landmark of Bhopal, and was built in 1860 by Sikandar Jehan Begum, Qudisiya Begum’s daughter, left behind her this majestic mosque. The architectural design of the Moti Masjid has a close similitude to the famous Jama Masjid in Delhi.  The Moti Masjid is also called as Pearl Mosque because of this sparkling white fascia.

Moti Masjid, a lovely shrine in Bhopal is a significant landmark in the history of muslim women in India. Sikandar Begum was fairly unconventional compared to Muslim women of her time – she usually dressed like a man and went out riding without a veil, often with a dagger tucked under her belt. This pretty mosque is comparatively smaller in size, but grabs thousands of tourists with its architectural marvel. Its dark red towers and golden spikes are really fantastic. The façade of the mosque is of glittering white marble, which provides an ethereal look.

JAMA MASJID , BHOPAL

Jama Masjid in Bhopal is an impressive structure. The Jama Masjid is the smaller mosque, and was built by “Qudisiya Begum in 1837” and this mosque is resplendent with gold spikes that ennoble its minarets. Most fabulous feature of this pretty shrine is the two large towers that can be seen from a considerable distance. Though a small shrine, Jama Masjid occupies a remarkable place among the pilgrimage centers in Bhopal.

The mosque also has three bulbous cupolas, but the main feature of the Jama Masjid is its interior – a splendid example of Islamic architecture. The mosque contains a series of alabaster-white columned arches that present a very pretty sight, and the inner sanctum of the mosque is built out of marble. The Jama Masjid complex also contains a small pond, and was extensively renovated after Independence.

TAJ-UL-MASJID, BHOPAL

The most impressive structure in Bhopal is the Taj-ul-Masjid, one of the largest and most elegant Muslim mosques in India. One of the largest and most elegant Muslim mosques, Taj-ul-Masjid is the most imposing structure in Bhopal. The literal meaning of the term Taj-ul-Masjid is ‘The Crown of Mosques’ A benefaction from Shah Jahan Begum,The Taj-ul-Masajid is one of Asia’s largest mosques. However, the monument was never completed due to lack of money, and after a long lay-off, construction was resumed in 1971.

The mosque is one of the most important Muslim landmarks in the city of Bhopal, and is multi-purpose as it is used as a madarsa, an Islamic religious school during the day. Bhopal also is home to the Dhai Seedi ki Masjid, which, as opposed to the above, is probably one of the tiniest mosques in Asia! Worth a visit to satisfy your curiosity! Outside its northern wall, you are again overwhelmed by the vast expanse of water in the tank here.

The monument also has three huge bulbous domes, an impressive main hallway with attractive pillars, marble flooring and a spacious courtyard. The mosque is one of the most important landmarks in the city of Bhopal, and is multi-purpose as it is used as a madarsa (Islamic religious school) during the day. The annual three-day Ijtima congregation held here attracts people from all over. The mosque also has three huge bulbous domes, an impressive main hallway with attractive pillars, marble flooring and a spacious courtyard. Must a visit site.
