BHOPAL MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, (NAGAR NIGAM), BHOPAL

The first municipal body that was establish in Bhopal with the name of “Majlis-e-intezamia”. This municipal corporation came into force in 1907 in Bhopal state. Till 1956 Municipal Corporation of Bhopal was very small. Municipal Corporation of Bhopal formed in the year 1983 in order to fulfill the basic needs of the occupants in the city. 

Being the capital city of the state Bhopal is not only the administrative center but also a favorite tourist spot famous for its heritage and historical buildings.

Municipal Corporation in Bhopal regulates and collect property tax throughout the city and gives its prior sanction to all building plans concerning to the development of any new project.

KERWA DAM, BHOPAL


This is a scenic dam located just 15 km from bhopal off Kotra Sultanabad. Kerwa dam is an excellent spot to enjoy a nice picnic. The place is best visited in the rains as the water level is low in summers.


HATHIKHEDA DAM, BHOPAL


Hathikheda Dam is about 19 km from Bhopal railway station. Hathaikheda is a beautiful place full with river water, trees of mango, date and scenic fields having wheat, soyabean, sugar cane crops. This place becomes charming especially in the rainy season. One can visit Hathaikheda via Phanda which is off Bhopal-Indore highway.


KOLAR DAM, BHOPAL


Kolar Dam, a major masonry dam, is located about 35 km away from Bhopal, near Lawakhari village in Sehore District.


Constructed across the Kolar River, a tributary of Narmada on the right bank, the dam is about 45 m high. The maximum storage capacity is 270 M cm. The dam serves the irrigation purpose of Bhopal city and the surrounding areas. The nearest airport is Bhopal Airport Sehore Railway Station serves Lawakhari. Kolar is the smallest urban agglomeration of Bhopal consisting of Old Municipal Towns of kolar, Bhopal. 

HOW TO REACH BHOPAL ?


Bhopal is situated on northern part of India. With beautiful lakes all over, Bhopal occupies an important place in the itinerary of a tourist who is on his tour of central India. The travelers are often faced with the question as how to reach Bhopal when they want to explore this exquisite town. The transportation access to Bhopal is quite easy and can be reached by air, rail and road transport as well. 

The three modes of transport can be discussed hereunder as:

  • By Air-
The airport in Bhopal is located at a distance of 12 kilometers from the Old City named as Raja Bhoj Airport and the Indian Airlines operates daily flights to the major metropolises of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Indore, etc. and also operates four weekly flights to Gwalior. 

  • By Rail-
Bhopal lies on the Delhi-Chennai route and is one of the most important railway stations of central India. Among the express trains, Shatabdi express connects Bhopal with the capital city, Delhi. The various other destinations to which Bhopal is well connected are Maharashtra, Gujarat, U.P., Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Rajesthan and many more parts of India.

  • By Road-
The transportation access in Bhopal is also quite convenient by the road transport since it is well-linked with the various other destinations of India through the smooth and excellent roadways. Some of the destinations that are easily reachable from Bhopal by road transport are Delhi, Sanchi, Indore, Ujjain, Panchmari and Jabalpur, and Khajuraho are easily accessible from Bhopal.  With such fine transportation network, getting to Bhopal would be quite convenient and comfortable for the discerning travelers.
