DHAI SEEDHI MSAJID (MEANING 2 AND 1/2 STAIRS MOSQUE)

Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid ("The mosque of 2 and a half steps"), one of the smallest mosques in Asia Asia/World (not 100% sure), is located right across the road from Taj-ul-Masajid. It is located within the campus of Gandhi Medical College, which is built on top of an old fort. Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid is in one of the watchtowers. Possibly, it is also the oldest Mosque in Bhopal city, initially built as a makeshift mosque during the construction of the fort.

Bhopal is home to the most of the spectrum of culture that is characteristic of India, and has preserved most of its inheritances from its various rulers, most significant among them being the Muslims. The splendid and opulent architecture of those times is reflected in Bhopal’s many mosques.

JAMA MASJID , BHOPAL

Jama Masjid in Bhopal is an impressive structure. The Jama Masjid is the smaller mosque, and was built by “Qudisiya Begum in 1837” and this mosque is resplendent with gold spikes that ennoble its minarets. Most fabulous feature of this pretty shrine is the two large towers that can be seen from a considerable distance. Though a small shrine, Jama Masjid occupies a remarkable place among the pilgrimage centers in Bhopal.

The mosque also has three bulbous cupolas, but the main feature of the Jama Masjid is its interior – a splendid example of Islamic architecture. The mosque contains a series of alabaster-white columned arches that present a very pretty sight, and the inner sanctum of the mosque is built out of marble. The Jama Masjid complex also contains a small pond, and was extensively renovated after Independence.
