SETHANI GHAT AT HOSHANGABAD NEAR BHOPAL


Sethani Ghat- Tiled with stones is a 19th century construction along the banks of the river Narmada at Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh in India. It is one of the largest ghats in India. During Narmada Jayanti celebrations the ghat comes alive when thousands of people converge on the ghats and diyas are floated in the river. One of the most beautiful ghats you will find in central india.Probably the biggest ghat on river Narmada, and yes most happening place in the town.Narmada Jayanti celebration in the month of feb is one the major event and big center of attraction.


The ghat was built after generous contributions by Jankibai Sethani from the Sharma family in Hoshangabad after devotees complained to her about the difficulty in getting to the river, Hence the ghat is named after her. It is one of the few examples of public infrastructure built through private funding in India. BANDHRABHAN AT HOSHANGABAD NEAR BHOPAL


Bandhrabhan is a place where two main rivers Narmada and Tawa meet. A holy fair takes place every year at Bandhrabhan. Locals as well as people from other places come here to participate in the fair and enjoy.



BHARAT BHAVAN SUMMER FESTIVAL


Bharat Bhavan summer festival is one of the major festivals of Bhopal celebrated in Bharat Bhavan, the epicenter of cultural events. LOKARANG SAMAROH @ BHOPAL


Lokrang Samaroh, organised by Madhya Pradesh Adivasi Lok Kala Academy is celebrated annually on 26th January, during the auspicious day of Republic day. This five day cultural festival, based on the rich tribal and folk tradition of India, is celebrated every year with a definite motive. Sometimes the festival focuses on the West Indian cultural, explaining the heritage of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and sometimes on the North Indian cultures, explaining the heritage of Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Whatever it is, Lokrang Samaroh is mainly focused on a single geographical and Geo-cultural unit of the country.



The real motive of the festival is to remove the Geo-political differentiation and make India a wholly integrated country. The main highlights of the festival are classical dances, tribal folk dances, performing arts, exhibition of art and craft etc.

MANAV SANGRAHALAYA FAIR, BHOPAL


Manav Sangrahalaya Fair is a colorful fair held annualy in January /February at Manav Sangrahalaya, the national tribal museum of Bhopal. Large number of tribal artists from different parts of the country participate in this tribal fair to showcases their talents and skills. The fair exhibits the paintings and weaving made by the tribals of the region and the fashioning of bell metal into exquisite works of art made by them. Folk music and dance, potters workshops and open-air plays are also conducted as a part of the fair. 


















DHRUPAD MELA @ BHOPAL

BHOPAL MAHOTSAV


The Bhopal Mahotsav was introduced and organized by the M.P. Tourism, teaming up with M.P. State Handicrafts during January or February each year to host this expansive event at Gohar Mahal. Bhopal Mahotsav contains a fantastic Food Festival, many cultural performances from various tribal artists, and a creative Craft Fair. The event is full of activities such as pottery workshops, theatrical plays, and music and folk dance. Highlights of Bhopal Mahotsav are food festival, crafts mela and cultural performances by tribal artists.


RASHTRIYA HINDI NATYA SAMAROH AT BHOPAL

NATIONAL DRAMA FESTIVAL @ BHOPAL


National Drama Festival, one of the popular festival of Bhopal, is celebrated every year in the month of September that lasts for 7 days. Large number of artists, writers, poets gathered here to perform their talents. The main attraction of the festival is the Hindi plays performed by various troupes from all over the country. Folk dance, song and cultural performances are the added attraction of the festival. 

Tourists and participants come from all over the country to enjoy in this exceptional festival. September is the time when lots of poets, artists and dramatists come to Bhopal and participate in the National Drama Festival. In this festival various cultural, folk dance and songs are performed by the groups. Various plays and drama acts are also performed by the talented stage actors on this festival.

BHOPAL UTSAV MELA- 2012


Utsav Mela enters 21st yr in Bhopal 

The city is all set for the month-long Bhopal utsav mela at Dussehra Maidan beginning January 1st, 2012.
 
Being acknowledged nationally Utsav Mela was established in the year 1992 with just 70 stalls and now, the quantity has reached around 600 stalls. This time Utsav Mela was newly constructed cultural hall, performance by nationally acclaimed artists and a tableau of Tirupati Balaji Temple of around 100 ft will be the main attractions of the fair.
 
Considering the bygone years of the enclosure of the fair, the organising committee took decision to allow entry only for families as during the vacation days the crowd is more than those of working days, because of which unethical mysticism try to take advantage, for which they have arranged police service facility. Hidden cameras on gates and elsewhere in the fair are affixed as per security reasons.
Adding to this the committee arranged for a team of 50 cleanliness employees, who would maintain the hygiene and cleanliness in the fair along with BMC who established for a fire brigade facility in the workshop of the fair. Besides, attractive street, electric generator facility is also organised. At present there are about 600 stalls in the fair, which seem to be less according to the participation.
