MANAV SANGRAHALAYA FAIR, BHOPAL


Manav Sangrahalaya Fair is a colorful fair held annualy in January /February at Manav Sangrahalaya, the national tribal museum of Bhopal. Large number of tribal artists from different parts of the country participate in this tribal fair to showcases their talents and skills. The fair exhibits the paintings and weaving made by the tribals of the region and the fashioning of bell metal into exquisite works of art made by them. Folk music and dance, potters workshops and open-air plays are also conducted as a part of the fair. 


















DHRUPAD MELA @ BHOPAL




Dhrupad, the ancient style of Hindustani classical music is a major heritage of Indian culture. The word Dhrupad is derived from two words namely Dhruva (the unwavering evening star that moves through our galaxy) and Pada (poetry). Dhrupad music is a form of devotional music originated from Samveda (chanted with vocal style called 'Chhanda' and 'Prabandha' which led to the emergence of Dhrupad). India is the idyllic place to enjoy vocal performances by some of the famous names of the music fraternity. Indian classical music's famous dhrupad style is the order of the day at this Bhopal Dhrupad Samaroh. Music aficionados from across the world come to the city lured by this Dhrupad Samaroh of Bhopal.


Dhrupad Samaroh is one among the important event in Bhopal, that organizes various musical concerts of notable classical musicians. The vocal performance in the dhrupad style of Indian classical music induces a feeling of peace and reflection to the audience. Classical music lovers from different parts of the world gathered here to take part in Dhrupad Samaroh.



Dhrupad music in Bhopal has a sacred tinge to it. Its main aim is to bring on feelings of peace as well as reflection to the listener. The word Dhrupad is a blend of two words namely DHRUVA and PADA. BHOPAL MAHOTSAV


The Bhopal Mahotsav was introduced and organized by the M.P. Tourism, teaming up with M.P. State Handicrafts during January or February each year to host this expansive event at Gohar Mahal. Bhopal Mahotsav contains a fantastic Food Festival, many cultural performances from various tribal artists, and a creative Craft Fair. The event is full of activities such as pottery workshops, theatrical plays, and music and folk dance. Highlights of Bhopal Mahotsav are food festival, crafts mela and cultural performances by tribal artists.


BHOPAL UTSAV MELA- 2012


Utsav Mela enters 21st yr in Bhopal 

The city is all set for the month-long Bhopal utsav mela at Dussehra Maidan beginning January 1st, 2012.
 
Being acknowledged nationally Utsav Mela was established in the year 1992 with just 70 stalls and now, the quantity has reached around 600 stalls. This time Utsav Mela was newly constructed cultural hall, performance by nationally acclaimed artists and a tableau of Tirupati Balaji Temple of around 100 ft will be the main attractions of the fair.
 
Considering the bygone years of the enclosure of the fair, the organising committee took decision to allow entry only for families as during the vacation days the crowd is more than those of working days, because of which unethical mysticism try to take advantage, for which they have arranged police service facility. Hidden cameras on gates and elsewhere in the fair are affixed as per security reasons.
Adding to this the committee arranged for a team of 50 cleanliness employees, who would maintain the hygiene and cleanliness in the fair along with BMC who established for a fire brigade facility in the workshop of the fair. Besides, attractive street, electric generator facility is also organised. At present there are about 600 stalls in the fair, which seem to be less according to the participation.
